Stuart has worked in the asset management industry for 30 years, both as a journalist and editor and as a PR and investor relations professional. More recently he has been a board adviser to several hedge funds, private debt managers and family offices.
He has worked as part of the marketing team in a $15bn in funds of hedge funds (Zurich Capital Markets) as well has director of marketing and IR at Carne Group, one of the largest third party mancos in Europe. He was also in charge of new product development at CFD broker CMC Markets. More recently he has advised on IR, operations and strategy with a number of family offices interested in deploying co-investable private assets products.
Previously Stuart was a wealth management and banking journalist at Euromoney and the FT group and was co-editor of the FT Fraud Report. He was founder editor of The Hedge Fund Journal in 2004 and developed the UCITS Hedge fund database in 2010-12. He co-authored a ground-breaking white paper on fund governance in 2015 which helped to change board level practices in the sector.
Stuart has an extensive track record in developing industry events, including FT conferences, investor seminars for think-tank IFI Global, and helping to develop and execute the successful Funds Congress events in London, which were co-sponsored by PwC and Dechert. He also hosts the Investing, Money and Markets podcast for The Armchair Trader.
He has authored books on offshore funds and forex trading. He has a BA Hons degree in Chinese / Japanese Social & Economic History from the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London.
